WoW Raid Finder Schedule 2026 — When Does LFR Open for The Venomous Abyss?

The Venomous Abyss opens August 18, 2026, with LFR Wing 1 available launch week. Full Raid Finder wing unlock schedule, how the queue works, and every boss you'll face — plus what the world's best guilds went through on the same fights.

Quick answer: The Venomous Abyss — WoW's new 8-boss raid in patch 12.1 (Midnight Season 2) — opens August 18, 2026, and Raid Finder Wing 1 is available that same launch week, alongside Normal, Heroic, and Mythic. The remaining LFR wings unlock weekly, finishing the week of September 8.

Raid Finder wing schedule

  • Wing 1 — week of August 18, 2026, alongside Normal, Heroic, and Mythic difficulties. The Race to World First begins the same week.
  • Wing 2 & Story Mode — week of August 25, 2026
  • Wing 3 — week of September 1, 2026
  • Wing 4 — week of September 8, 2026, completing the raid in Raid Finder.

With 8 bosses across 4 wings, each wing covers consecutive bosses in encounter order — the boss list below is the order you'll meet them in.

How Raid Finder works

Raid Finder (LFR) is the easiest of WoW's four raid difficulties and the only one with automatic matchmaking — queue up solo or with friends through the in-game tool and you'll be matched into a raid, no guild or pre-made group required. Mechanics are simplified and damage is tuned down compared to Normal, Heroic, and Mythic, making it the most accessible way to see a new raid's bosses and story.

There's a minimum item level requirement to queue (shown in-game on the Raid Finder panel when the wing opens), and each wing rewards loot from its bosses once per week.

Every boss in The Venomous Abyss

Eight bosses, in encounter order:

  1. Nek'zali the Soulcoiler
  2. Entombed Sentinels
  3. Vashnik the Malignant
  4. The Lost Explorers
  5. Sszorak
  6. The Twin Fangs
  7. The Coiled Altar
  8. Ula'tek

The same patch also adds The Tidebound Grotto, a standalone one-boss Lair (Nymrissa Wavecaller). Lairs follow their own unlock rules, so don't expect it to appear in the regular raid wings.

Here's the fun part of running LFR in the weeks after launch: by then, the world's best guilds — Liquid, Echo, Method — will have spent hundreds of pulls learning the Mythic versions of the exact bosses you're queueing for. Every boss page linked above shows who got the world first kill, how many attempts it took, and how long the fight lasted.
